Why You Shouldn’t Buy A Savage Rifle – How To: Extractor and Ejector Replacement – Savage 110 Elite

Here I discuss the issues I’ve experienced with the Savage 110 Elite and demonstrate how to remove and replace the extractor and ejector. This is an excellent rifle but these issues, as minor as they are, should be addressed and remedied by Savage. After researching these issues online, failure to extract and eject are prominent topics going back several years.

Given the multitude of complaints on this and numerous people saying they contacted Savage to address it, Savage is undoubtedly well aware and just doesn’t care. Savage has continued to ignore it and doesn’t even bother to improve the design on newer rifles.

It’s this attitude from a manufacturer that I can’t stomach and I refuse to support them. If this wasn’t a systemic issue over many years and several variants of the 110, or if Savage bothered to even pretend to care and addressed it, I would say the issues are fairly minor and would recommend the rifle based on its other strengths. No rifle is perfect and most rifles have issues that are often best resolved with aftermarket parts but Savage’s indifference toward it’s customers is unforgivable.

Until they decide they care about their reputation, and more importantly care about the customers they take hard earned money from… They don’t deserve another dollar.

I hope they change because they have a lot of potential. Without those minor issues I would venture to say the 110 Elite could be the best production rifle currently available under $2K.
