Melissa Powers
“I am a wife and mother of two teenagers. I grew up in MD but frequently visited and vacationed in West Virginia with family. When our family decided to move over a year ago, it was only natural for us to look to WV since I had always considered it my home. While I currently work as a Project Coordinator with a family owned and operated construction company, I have previously worked in a public school system as a substitute and eventually in the classroom assisting with children who had some behavioral difficulties. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Liberty University and recently graduated with a second Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from University of MD Global Campus. I believe that every person has worth and deserves someone fighting for them.”
Christian Waskow
“I am a veteran of the US Air Force. I am a husband, and father of six. Two of my kids are in Berkeley County Schools. My father is a retired Marine and retired deputy sheriff in South Carolina. My mother is a school librarian in South Carolina, and has been in the education system for more than 40 years. I am running to bring accountability to our Board of Education. Masks/vaccines should be the choice of the student/parent. School meals need to improve, and salaries need to be raised for teachers, support staff, and bus drivers.”
Ron Hurst
“I am a Christian, husband, father of three. I want what’s morally best for my family and for others too. Tired of government overreach from multiple levels and I’ve decided to take the fight to the polls. Ready to be a public servant of the people.”
Travis Bost
“I am a Husband, father, retired Navy Chief Petty Officer. I have a son in 2nd grade and our home is in Gerrardstown. My mother was a career elementary school teacher, my father a custodian, bus driver, substitute teacher, as well as a gospel preacher. “
